"The True Adventurer"

The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience. - Eleanor Rosevelt

Virginia Woolf

Woolf has always been one of my most favorite authors because of her famous work, Mrs. Dalloway.  The honesty and simple plot draw me into her story and influence my ideas of writing as a whole.  The plot is literally "one day in June" and at first I was very skeptical.   The reason being that I have read many older famous pieces and became bored but not with Woolf.  She jumps right in with her narration and leaves nothing to chance with her character development.  I felt like I have known the characters my whole life after finishing the novel.  I was able to identify with the characters especially Septimus, Elizabeth, and even Richard.  My Grandfather is a veteran and has struggled with what he saw since he came back from war.  Every  day he walks off alone and I have always wondered if he would have been more happy with he would have gotten some help.  Richard reminds me of my parents and how they tend to get caught up in what others think when really all it does is make them unhappy.  Elizabeth finds her talents and sticks to them since her mother and father are occupied with their own lives.  She was one of my favorite characters because of her love for dogs and knowledge.
